5 vie for Mymensingh mayoral race

Five candidates are contesting for the mayor posts in Mymensingh City Corporation elections as one aspirant has withdrew candidacy.

The number of contestants for general councillor posts is 149 while 69 others are in the race for the women's reserved seats of councillors. Nine people have withdrew candidacy for councillor posts.

Mymensingh City Corporation Returning Officer and local Election Official Belayet Hossain Chowdhury confirmed this on Thursday.

The mayor candidates are-- incumbent mayor and president of Mymensingh city Awami League Ekramul Haque Titu, Mymensingh district AL President Ehteshamul Alam, Sadequl Haque Khan, Md Rezaul Haque, and Mymensingh district Jatiyo Party Joint Secretary Md Shahidul Islam.

The voting will be held through electronic voting machines and a total of 3,36,490 voters are expected to cast their votes.
