500kg chinigura rice sent to India as Durga Puja gift
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has sent 500 kilograms of aromatic Chinigura rice to India through the Akhaura land port as a gift marking the occasion of Durga Puja.
A pickup van carrying the rice entered Agartala land port around 12:30pm on Monday. The consignment will be distributed as gifts by the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi to important Indian dignitaries.
The rice, branded under “Chashi”, was cleared through customs earlier in the day by C&F agent Suyeb Trade International.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has sent this as a gift from the people of Bangladesh. The High Commission in Delhi will distribute it to notable individuals in India,” said Rajib Bhuiyan, proprietor of Suyeb Trade International.
Md. Wahiduzzaman Khan, Revenue Officer at the Akhaura Land Customs Station, confirmed that all necessary procedures were followed, and the consignment was cleared without delay as per ministry instructions.
As part of its annual tradition, the Bangladeshi government has also approved the export of Hilsa fish to India during the Durga Puja season. Both countries regularly exchange cultural and symbolic gifts to strengthen diplomatic ties.
