515 arrested, firearms seized in 24hrs across Dhaka
Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested 515 people in the capital over the past 24 hours and filed 47 cases.
Police seized two foreign-made pistols, two magazines and 10 rounds of ammunition during the operations, along with three machetes, five knives and 53 iron nails believed to be parts of exploded cocktails, according to a DMP statement.
The operations also led to the seizure of 94.35 kg of cannabis, 11,167 yaba tablets, 121.3 grams of heroin, three bottles of foreign liquor and 20 cans of beer.
Police also recovered a private car, five mobile phones and Tk7,200 in cash.
The arrests were made in different areas of the capital by DMP's nine divisions and its Detective Branch. Mirpur recorded the highest number of arrests at 120, followed by Tejgaon with 92 and Motijheel with 76.
Legal proceedings against the arrested people were under way.
