517 arrested, 37 cases filed in DMP's 24-hour drive

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have arrested 517 people in connection with various offences during a regular 24-hour drive to maintain law and order in the capital. A total of 37 cases were filed at different police stations during this period.

DMP's Media and Public Relations Division Deputy Commissioner Md Akhter Hossain said the arrests were made during crackdowns in various police station areas over the last 24 hours.

Mirpur Division made the highest number of arrests with 160, followed by Tejgaon Division with 83, Uttara Division with 66, Gulshan Division with 48, Motijheel Division with 45, Wari Division with 40, Lalbagh Division with 38, Ramna Division with 33, and the Detective Branch with four.

During the drives, police seized a large quantity of drugs and stolen goods, including 12,228 Yaba tablets, 610 grams of cannabis, 10 mobile phones, 70 litres of diesel oil, seven oil drums and a pair of City Gold earrings. Six victims were also rescued during the operations.

DC Akhter Hossain said legal action against those arrested is underway. DMP will continue such drives to curb crime and maintain peace and order in the capital.
