554 accidental deaths reported in September
Bangladesh reported a total of 547 accidents, resulting in 554 deaths and 1,038 injuries in September of this year.
Bangladesh Passenger Welfare Association revealed the information through a press release on Thursday (October 17).
The organization's road accident monitoring cell prepared the report using data from national and regional newspapers and online news portals.
According to the report, motorcycle accidents have the highest fatality rate among road incidents. During this period, 195 people were killed and 149 injured in 192 motorcycle accidents, accounting for 38.94% of all accidents, 39.15% of fatalities, and 15% of injuries.
In September, 37 people were killed and four injured in 40 railway accidents. Additionally, 19 fatalities and 56 injuries occurred in 14 boat accidents, with 47 people reported missing.
Chattogram division saw the highest number of road accidents this month, with 109 fatalities and 251 injuries from 116 incidents, while Barishal division recorded the fewest accidents, resulting in 23 deaths and 48 injuries from 26 incidents.
