55th Jashne Julus begins in Chattogram

The 55th Jashne Julus, a major religious procession marking Eid-e-Miladunnabi, began in Chattogram on Wednesday morning (August 26), drawing large crowds from across the city and other parts of Bangladesh.

Organised by Anjuman-e-Rahmania Ahmadia Sunnia Trust, the procession began around 9:30am from Alomgir Khanqah-e-Qaderia Syeddaia near Jamia Ahmadia Sunnia Kamil Madrasa in Sholoshahar.

The procession is being led by Allama Syed Muhammad Sabir Shah, the Sajjadanishin of Darbar-e-Sirikot, alongside Sahebzada Syed Muhammad Qasem Shah and Shahzada Syed Muhammad Aqib Shah.

The procession is scheduled to pass through Muradpur, 2 No. Gate, GEC intersection, WASA, Dampara, Lalkhan Bazar and Tigerpass before returning to the madrasa ground. A religious gathering, Zuhr prayers and a special prayer for the country’s peace and prosperity will be held there after the procession.

Organisers said millions of devotees had gathered in Chattogram since early morning to participate in the event and spread the Prophet Muhammad’s message of equality, peace and humanity.

Major roads and intersections have been decorated with banners, festoons, arches and green flags. Around 10,000 volunteers from the organising trust are working alongside law enforcement agencies to maintain order and assist participants. More than 100 temporary toilets have also been installed around the madrasa and adjoining areas.

According to the trust, the Jashne Julus was first held in Chattogram in 1974 under the guidance of Allama Hafiz Syed Muhammad Tayyab Shah (RA) and has been organised annually since then.

Chattogram Metropolitan Police Commissioner Hasan Md Shawkot Ali said ensuring security at a gathering of this scale was a major responsibility for the police and that no compromise would be made on discipline and security.
