On Sunday (July 26) around 11am, a protest march was brought out from Bablatla Mor under the banner of 'Conscious Civil Society'. The procession, after parading various roads of the upazila, culminated in a protest rally at the Upazila Press Club premises. The protesters later burnt an effigy of Gazi Nazrul Islam.

The rally, chaired by local contractor Md Shamsuddoha Tutul, was addressed by Hafez Maulana Mofizur Rahman, Md Rabiul Islam, Abdus Salam, Mofizul Islam and Md Rasel Hossain among others. They demanded the MP's resignation.

Multiple videos of Gazi Nazrul Islam's personal moments went viral on social media on Monday night. Later, he claimed in a Facebook post that the woman featured in the videos was his second wife.

The incident sparked anger and protests in the area. Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami's central executive council has decided to expel Gazi Nazrul from the party and has sent letters to Parliament and the Election Commission demanding the cancellation of his membership.
