6 AL activists beaten to death in Narshingdi
Awami League (AL) leaders and activists fired indiscriminately at the march of protestors of the Students Against Discrimination (SAD) at Madhabdi Bus Stand area of Narsingdi Sadar Upazila.
Because of this, six AL activists were beaten to death by the excited crowd. Besides, four of the protestors were hit by the AL men’s bullets.
Eyewitnesses said that AL supporters opened fire on the procession brought out by the protestors, critically injuring four men.
Among the injured, Suman Mia (35), Soheb (41) and Al Amin (25) were sent to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital and Mir Jahangir (30) was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a coma.
Meanwhile, 4,000/5,000 protestors attacked Awami League supporters, ignoring the bullets. The AL men ran away. Six of the AL men took refuge in the big mosque on the west side of the Madhabdi bus stand. The agitated crowd took them out of the mosque and thrashed them to death in front of the mosque.
The deceased are Chardigaldi Union Parishad Chairman and Awami League leader Delwar Hossain (40), Narsingdi Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Anwar Hossain's younger brother Jubo League leader Delwar Hossain (38), former Zila Parishad member and Sramik League leader Moniruzzaman Bhuiya (42), Sramik League leader Anichur Rahman Sohail (40), Ward No. 11 Commissioner of Madhabdi Municipality Nowsher (40) and one unidentified person (38).
At the time of writing this report at 5:30 pm, the bodies of the victims were lying in front of the mosque. The family members have taken away the body of Moniruzzaman Bhuiya.
