6 held over killing of four people in Narail
Six persons have been detained in connection of the killing of four people, including a father and son, over territorial dominance in Barakula village under Narail Sadar police station. However, no party has filed a case yet.
The suspected were detained from various areas on Monday night after the killings. Among those detainees are--Boni Sikder, son of Amin Sikder of Tarapur village, Halim Fakir, son of Lalon Fakir of Barakula village, Tufan Molla, son of Tujam Molla of Kharia village in Kalia upazila, Saday Molla, son of Ruhul Molla of Tarapur village in Sadar, Lajuk alias Surjay Sikder, son of Tayyab Sikder, and Jasim Molla, son of Sabur Molla.
According to police and local sources, a clash was ensued between the supporters of Khair Group and Khalil Sheikh Group, former chairman of Singasholpur Union under Narail Sadar police station. Four people from both sides were killed and six-seven were seriously injured in the clash. Khalil Sheikh of the Khalil Group, his son Tahazzud Sheikh, nephew Ferdous and Munna Sheikh were killed on the spot. After the clash, angry people from the opposing side set fire to several places.
Narail Sadar Police Station OC Oli Mia said that six people have been detained in connection with the killing in Barukula village. No case has been filed in the incident yet. Additional police have been deployed at the spot and the situation in the area is currently normal.
