6 including Jaber, Zuma quit Inqilab Cultural Centre
Six top office-bearers of Inqilab Cultural Centre, including Chairman Abdullah Al Jaber and Vice-President Fatima Tasnim Zuma, have stepped down from their positions.
They made the announcement on their respective Facebook accounts on Wednesday night.
The others who resigned are-- the center's President Salahuddin Shuvo, acting Executive Director Fahim Abdullah, Financial Management Director Md Raihan, and Deputy Executive Director Habibullah Misbah.
They said that they had decided to hand over all the centre's documents in response to demands from the family of slain Inqilab Moncho founder Sharif Osman bin Hadi. However, they will remain in charge of the Inqilab Moncho.
The centre is the cultural wing of Inqilab Moncho, which was formed after the July Uprising.
In his post, Jaber wrote: “Before his martyrdom, Shaheed Osman Hadi had taken the initiative to form a trust for the Cultural Center, but he could not complete it.”
Saying that the organization had been planned from its inception to operate as ‘a trust of the people,’ he further said efforts had been made
over the past six months to resolve the issue concerning the heirs, but the situation had become even more complicated.
“To preserve the honour that Almighty Allah has bestowed upon
Shaheed Osman Hadi, and in response to the claims of his heirs and on the basis of all documents and records, it has been decided to hand over the Cultural Center to the claimants,” Jaber added.
In her Facebook post, Fatima Tasnim Zuma wrote that after July, she had rejected various political proposals and joined centre in the interest of pro-Bangladesh culture. However, as time passed and the organization began to enter the political sphere alongside its cultural activities. She expressed concern over the matter.
Zuma said that issues related to the heirs came to the forefront following the martyrdom of Osman Hadi. Although efforts were made to form a trust, it could not be completed. Later, as various public discussions,
propaganda and defamatory comments regarding the heirs issue spread, she came under mental pressure.
She wrote: “To preserve the honor that Almighty Allah has bestowed upon Shaheed Osman Hadi, and in response to the claims of his heirs and on the basis of all documents and records, it has been decided to hand over the Cultural Center to the claimants.”
Zuma also said that although the accounts operated before
the martyrdom of Osman Hadi had been frozen, all financial records of the center during her tenure would be published soon.
