6 more children die of measles symptoms

Six more children have died with measles symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours. During the same period, a total of 818 children were newly infected with measles or measles-like symptoms. This information was disclosed in an updated report published by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday (August 6).

According to the report, while 6 children died with measles symptoms in the latest 24 hours, no child died from confirmed measles infection during this period. Since March 15, a total of 764 children have died with measles symptoms, and another 96 children have died from confirmed measles infection. As a result, the total number of deaths from measles and measles-like symptoms during this period stands at 860.

Meanwhile, over the past day, 85 children were confirmed to have measles, and another 733 children were infected with measles-like symptoms. During the same period, 645 new children were admitted to hospitals, while 582 children were discharged after completing treatment.

According to DGHS data, the total number of suspected measles cases in the country since March 15 stands at 133,638. Of these, 16,740 have been confirmed as measles cases through testing. During the same period, a total of 115,879 people have been admitted to hospitals, of whom 111,587 have recovered and returned home.
