6 more die of dengue, 1,492 hospitalised in 24 hours

Six more people have died of dengue across the country in the last 24 hours, while 1,492 new dengue patients were hospitalised during the same period. With this, the death toll from dengue this year has risen to 139.

The information was provided in the regular dengue report of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday, September 10.

According to the report, two people died of dengue in Khulna division in the last 24 hours, while one each died in Dhaka, Barishal, Chattogram and Rajshahi divisions.

In terms of new admissions, Dhaka division recorded the highest number of dengue patients hospitalised in the last 24 hours at 327. Khulna division saw 284 admissions, Chattogram 202, Barishal 178, Dhaka South City Corporation 151, Rajshahi 122, Dhaka North City Corporation 81, Mymensingh 80, Rangpur 54 and Sylhet 13.

According to DGHS data, a total of 139 people have died of dengue in the country from January 1 to September 10 this year. Of them, 71 died in Dhaka division, including the two city corporations.

Additionally, 25 died in Khulna division, 14 in Mymensingh, 12 in Barishal, nine in Chattogram, six in Rajshahi and one each in Rangpur and Sylhet divisions.
