6 teenagers arrested from Chhatra League rally sent to jail

Six teenagers arrested from a rally of the banned organisation Chhatra League in Gopalganj have been sent to jail under the Anti-Terrorism Act. They were produced before the Juvenile Court on Saturday afternoon, where Judge Syed Arafat Hossain ordered them to be sent to jail, confirmed Gopalganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Aminul Islam.

Police said the six teenagers were arrested during a Chhatra League rally in the Mona Market area of Bajunia village in Kazulia Union of Sadar upazila on Friday. The rally was reportedly led by Omar Faruk Khan Rimon, former general secretary of Gopalganj Poura Chhatra League.

Police said slogans were being chanted against the current government and Prime Minister at the rally. Police arrested six of them after reaching the spot. Others present at the rally managed to flee.

A case has been filed against the six arrested teenagers under the Anti-Terrorism Act, police said.
