60 lakh BNP leaders and activists accused: Tuhin

BNP's party MP candidate and the President of the Central Farmers' League, Agriculturist Hasan Jafir Tuhin, has said that sixty lakh BNP leaders and activists have been accused in 100,000 false cases by 'Fascist Hasina'. Thousands of leaders and activists have been subjected to enforced disappearance and killing.

He made these remarks during an exchange of views with journalists working in the Pabna-3 area (Chatmohar, Bhangura, Faridpur) in Chatmohar, Pabna, on Thursday.

He said oppression and torture have been inflicted upon them for 17 years. Through the 2024 mass uprising, they gained a new Bangladesh at the cost of 2,000 lives. The party's Chairperson and national leader, Khaleda Zia, has been jailed in false cases. She is being pushed towards death slowly.

He stated that this election is the most important in Bangladesh's history. Because since 1971, 12 elections have been held in the country. Some were held at midnight, some were one-sided, and for some, the voting happened during the day but results at night.

Noting that the electoral environment in the Pabna-3 (Chatmohar, Bhangura, Faridpur) area is fair and peaceful, he said this environment must be maintained until voting day. As a major party, the BNP is making every effort to maintain the electoral environment. He urged other candidates to also participate in campaigns while adhering to the electoral code of conduct.

He claimed that 80 per cent of voters in Chatmohar, Bhangura, and Faridpur upazilas are in favour of the Sheaf of Paddy symbol.

Tuhin said if elected, a grand plan will be undertaken for the Chalan Beel, which will include agricultural development, employment based on merit, construction of roads, development of farmers, and making the Chalan Beel a separate hub.

Among those present at the exchange of views held at the residence of Bothor Hasan Jafir Tuhin in Bilcholon union were the convenor of the Election Steering Committee Advocate Arifa Sultana Ruma (Chatmohar), Noor Mujahid Swapan (Bhangura), Jahurul Islam Bakul (Faridpur), BNP leaders Principal Abdur Rahim Kalu, Principal Mahmudul Alam, and other BNP leaders and activists.
