Sixty percent of homes under Dhaka South City Corporation have been found to contain dengue mosquito larvae, DSCC Administrator Abdus Salam has said.

He made the remarks at a reunion event in the capital's Wari area on Friday morning, June 5.

"Sixty percent of homes have dengue larvae. Everyone must be aware to ensure water does not accumulate in courtyards, rooftops and flower pots. Otherwise, it will be impossible to escape dengue," he said.

Calling on residents to keep their homes and surrounding areas clean, he said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is very conscious about these issues, overseeing matters from playgrounds to overall conditions.

To keep the environment beautiful, everyone must first become aware, the administrator said, adding that if elected mayor with public support, he would bring radical changes to the city's educational institutions.
