6,48,000 domestic postal ballots received: EC

Election Commission Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed has informed that 6,48,000 domestic postal ballots have been received by returning officers from within the country.

He shared this information while speaking to journalists at the Election Commission Secretariat on Thursday.

Earlier, he had informed that out of 42,651 polling centres nationwide, voting had taken place at 32,789 centres until 12 pm, with a voter turnout rate of 32.88 per cent.

The EC Secretary said no polling has been suspended at any centre so far. Although there has been some disorder at a few centres, there is no major cause for concern due to the prompt action of law enforcement agencies.

Voting for the 13th National Parliamentary Election and referendum began at 7:30 am on Thursday and will continue uninterrupted until 4:30 pm. Citizens are exercising their franchise in a peaceful environment across the country.
