7 burnt in fire at Mohakhali petrol pump
Seven individuals sustained burn injuries in a fire outbreak at the “Gulshan Service Center” petrol pump in Mohakhali.
The victims were rushed to the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute for emergency treatment. According to Dr Shaon Bin Rahman, a resident surgeon at the institute, “Around 1:30pm, seven burn victims were admitted, all injured in a fire that broke out at a pump located in Amtoli, Mohakhali.”
A senior nurse at the emergency department informed the media, “Seven patients were brought in with serious burn injuries. Their condition is critical, and we are currently providing intensive care.”
An employee at the Gulshan Service Center explained that three staff members had been cleaning an empty fuel tank when accumulated gas inside the tank ignited, causing the fire. “The incident occurred around 1pm. The three workers were burned and immediately taken to the hospital,” he said, adding that the exact cause of the fire remains unclear.
Following the incident, fuel sales have been temporarily suspended at part of the pump.
Since the fire was extinguished by the workers themselves, the Fire Service has not yet been officially notified.
