Education Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud announced plans to give seven colleges in Dhaka an integrated institutional framework, removing them from Dhaka University's affiliation.

He made the statement as the chief guest at Dhaka College's 184th foundation anniversary celebration on Wednesday.

“It was an ill-advised decision to affiliate the seven traditional colleges with Dhaka University,” said Wahiduddin Mahmud. “This has caused students to face numerous challenges, including harassment, exam-related complications, and various obstacles. These disruptions are hampering education. Efforts are underway to create an integrated institutional framework for these colleges to alleviate the students' difficulties.”

The education advisor revealed that the new institution’s name would be discussed with students before finalization.

“A committee has already been formed, and we are closely monitoring the progress. Students will also have the opportunity to observe the process if they wish,” he said.

Wahiduddin emphasized the government’s dedication to addressing the disparities faced by students.

“We are committed to resolving all student-related issues. Any existing problems should be reported to the head of the institution, and we will address them accordingly,” he said.

Urging students to return to classes, Wahiduddin Mahmud added: “I call upon the students to stop their agitation and focus on their education. All their concerns will be resolved in due time.”
