7 DIGs promoted to Additional IGP rank
The government has promoted seven Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) of police to the rank of Additional Inspector General (Additional IGP). The promotions were announced in a circular issued on Monday by the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
According to the notification, the officers promoted are; Md. Ali Hossain Fakir, DIG, Armed Police Battalion (APBn), G M Azizur Rahman, DIG, Special Branch (SB), Md. Sarwar, Additional Police Commissioner (DIG), Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Md. Mostafa Kamal, DIG, Armed Police Battalion, Kazi Md. Fazlul Karim, DIG, Police Headquarters, Md. Rezaul Karim, DIG, Highway Police and Md. Ahsan Habib Palash, DIG, Chattogram Range.
The circular stated that the promotions were made following the completion of formalities outlined in a letter from the Ministry of Public Administration and the Finance Division’s Expenditure Management-5 Branch, dated October 9, 2024. The officers have been appointed against newly created supernumerary posts.
It further mentioned that these supernumerary posts will automatically be abolished if they become vacant due to promotion, retirement, removal, or any other reason. The posts will remain valid for one year from the date of creation.
The promoted officers will continue to serve in their current roles. The order has been issued in the public interest and is effective immediately.
