7 female on 9-member Chhatra Dal committee

Despite the limited participation of women in politics, a different picture has been seen in the new committee of Chhatra Dal at Chatalpar Degree College in Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria.

The 9-member college unit committee has included seven females. The matter went viral on social media soon after the committee was announced.

On Friday (February 28), the committee was approved through a press release signed by Brahmanbaria District Chhatra Dal convener Shahinur Rahman Shahin and member secretary Sameer Chakraborty. Kanika Akhter has been elected as the president and Dewan Nusrat has been appointed as the general secretary.

The predominance of female in other important positions of the committee is also evident. Pushpa Akhter has been appointed as the senior vice-president, Ayesha Siddique Panna and Mukta Akhter are the vice-presidents. Nusrat Jahan Tonu and Nazneen Akhter have been appointed as joint general secretaries.

There are two male members in this committee. Tanvir Mia, who has been given the post of Joint General Secretary. Md. Iqbal Hossain has been given the responsibility of the post of Organizing Secretary.

The committee has been instructed to form a full committee within the next 30 days. It is expected that the new leadership will further accelerate democratic practices and organizational activities in educational institutions.

Incidentally, such participation of female leadership in the college committee has given rise to positive discussions in local politics.
