7 injured in clash between BNP and independent candidate supporters in Netrakona-3

At least seven people were injured in a clash between supporters of a BNP candidate and a rebel independent candidate in Netrakona-3, Kendua-Atpara constituency.

The incident occurred late Tuesday night in Garaond village under Garadoba union of Kendua upazila.

BNP candidate Rafiqul Islam Hilali is contesting with the sheaf of paddy symbol, while expelled BNP leader and independent candidate Delwar Hossain Bhuiyan Dulal is contesting with the horse symbol.

Two seriously injured supporters, Abdul Halim, joint convener of Garadoba union Jubo Dal, and Montaz Mia, a member of the union Krishak Dal, were referred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

Eyewitnesses said the clash erupted following an altercation between Abdul Halim and horse symbol supporter Alamgir Mia, leading to violence involving supporters from both sides.

Officer-in-charge of Kendua police station Mohammad Mehdi Maksud said police and army personnel were deployed at the scene and the situation is currently under control, with no written complaints filed so far.
