7 more die from measles and symptoms, total death 488

Seven more children have died in Bangladesh in the last 24 hours due to measles and measles-like symptoms, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the latest deaths, three children were confirmed to have died from measles, while four others died with measles-related symptoms.

The deaths occurred between 8am on Wednesday and 8am on Thursday, the DGHS measles bulletin said.

During the same 24-hour period, 1,423 more children developed measles symptoms across the country. Since March 15, a total of 59,279 children have shown symptoms of the disease.

Health officials said 208 new cases of confirmed measles were recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases since March 15 to 8,275.

In addition, 46,407 children have been admitted to hospitals with measles-like symptoms during this period, while 42,336 have recovered and been discharged.

According to DGHS data, since March 15, 405 children have died from measles symptoms and 83 from confirmed measles, bringing the total death toll to 488.
