7 more die with measles symptoms in 24 hours, 1,462 new cases recorded
Two people have died from confirmed measles infection and five have died with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services has said. A total of 1,462 people were admitted to hospitals with measles symptoms across the country in a single day, according to a directorate notification on Monday, April 6.
The notification stated that the number of suspected measles patients in the last 24 hours is 1,282, bringing the total number of suspected cases from March 15 to April 6 to 8,534.
The number of confirmed measles patients in the last 24 hours is 180, bringing the total number of confirmed cases from March 15 to April 6 to 1,099.
A total of 5,940 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals from March 15 to April 6. During the same period, 6,016 patients have recovered and been discharged.
The Dhaka division recorded the highest number of suspected measles deaths in the last 24 hours, with five fatalities. Dhaka district also recorded the highest number of deaths, with five in the same period.
Two confirmed measles deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed measles deaths from March 15 to April 6 to 20.
Five suspected measles deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of suspected measles deaths from March 15 to April 6 to 118.
