70 percent people satisfied with interim govt’s performance: IRI survey
A nationwide survey by the International Republican Institute (IRI) shows strong public confidence in chief adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus and the interim government, with 69 percent of respondents saying Dr Yunus is doing a good job and 70 percent expressing satisfaction with the government’s performance.
Johanna Kao, senior director for Asia-Pacific at IRI, said the findings reflect the public’s expectation for stability, accountability and reforms under Dr Yunus’s leadership.
The survey also indicates high voter interest ahead of the upcoming national election. Sixty-six percent said they were very interested in voting, while 23 percent said they were somewhat interested. Eighty percent of respondents believe the election will be free and fair.
Kao noted that such enthusiasm highlights the need to sustain the reform process and ensure that the election is credible and peaceful.
IRI conducts regular public opinion surveys in Bangladesh to analyse citizens’ views on policy, politics and governance. The organisation is also working to promote responsible and issue-based political engagement ahead of the national election.
