70,000 yaba pills, cash recovered in Teknaf; two brothers held
Police have recovered 70,000 yaba pills and Tk 2,85,500 in cash from drug sales during a raid in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar. Two brothers from the same family have been arrested in connection with the incident.
The raid was conducted around 1:45am on Tuesday, August 18, in the Mogpara area of Ward No 3 under Hnila Union of the upazila. Acting on a tip-off, a team from Teknaf Model Police Station raided the house of local resident Mohammad Yunus.
Police said a large quantity of yaba and cash was found during the search of the house. A total of 70,000 yaba pills and Tk 2,85,500 in cash from drug sales were seized. Mohammad Ali, 32, and Mohammad Amin, 29, the two sons of Mohammad Yunus, were detained from the scene.
Teknaf Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Saiful Islam and Investigation Officer Sukanta Chowdhury led the operation. Police said the two arrested individuals have been initially interrogated regarding the recovered yaba and cash.
OC Saiful Islam said a case under the Narcotics Control Act has been filed against the two arrested brothers. They have been sent to court after legal procedures.
Police said anti-narcotics operations in the border area of Teknaf are ongoing. Regular drives are being conducted to identify and bring to justice those involved in the transportation, storage and sale of drugs.
