726 new dengue patients hospitalised

The dengue situation in the country remains concerning. In the last 24 hours, 726 new dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals, though no deaths were reported during this period.

The Directorate General of Health Services provided this information in its regular bulletin on Monday. It said these patients were admitted to various hospitals across the country between 8am on Sunday and 8am on Monday.

Among the new patients, the highest number — 346 — were admitted in Dhaka. Additionally, 81 were admitted in Chattogram division, 107 in Khulna, 75 in Barishal, 65 in Rajshahi, 37 in Mymensingh, 5 in Sylhet and 3 in Rangpur.

According to the DGHS, 20,071 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals from January 1 to August 10 this year. Of them, 18,567 have recovered and returned home.

Currently, 1,443 dengue patients are undergoing treatment in various hospitals across the country. A total of 61 deaths have been reported from dengue since the beginning of the year.

With 726 new admissions in a single day, concerns over the dengue situation are growing. Particularly in Dhaka, where a significant number of patients are being admitted daily, the need for effective preventive measures to control the situation in the capital has become evident.
