7-year-old child still in 'mental trauma' after 6 months of rape at madrasa

A seven-year-old student at a madrasa in Savar has allegedly been raped on multiple occasions over a period of about six months by a teacher and several students. The child's family claims that six individuals, including a teacher, have assaulted the boy. As a result of the abuse, the child is suffering from serious physical ailments and severe mental trauma, crying out in terror even in his sleep, saying: "Leave my throat."

The child's father filed a case on August 26, but the accused have yet to be arrested. He is currently unable to afford proper treatment for his son due to financial constraints.

The victim is a second-grade student in the maktab (primary) section of Markazul Ulum Ash-Shar'iyyah Madrasa in Shahibagh, Savar. He was enrolled in February this year to study Arabic, with the abuse beginning shortly after.

According to the case, the assaults took place on various dates between February and July. The accused include four students; Rafi, Sayem, Abu Sayeed and Mohammad Bin Muktar, and a teacher, Hafez Maulana Jabir Hossain. Three other teachers; Hafez Kamruzzaman, Qari Rafiqul Islam and Zia Ibn Kasem, are accused of beating and threatening the child to prevent him from telling anyone.

The child's father, a storekeeper at a garment factory, said his son has suffered anal injuries and has been psychologically shattered. Doctors have been consulted, but limited income prevents proper care.

Savar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Saiful Alam said the accused have been on the run since the case was filed, and police operations to arrest them are ongoing.
