8 die of dengue in 24 hours, infections cross 75,000

Eight people have died of dengue across the country in the last 24 hours. With this, a total of 233 people have died of dengue in the country this year.

Among them, dengue deaths were highest in the current month of September. According to DGHS data, 136 people died in 28 days of September.

Meanwhile, 2,036 people were admitted to various hospitals across the country with dengue in the last 24 hours. With this, 75,730 people have been infected with dengue so far this year.

The Directorate General of Health Services conveyed this information in a report on Monday. The report provided information for the 24 hours from 8am on Sunday.

According to DGHS data, three people died of dengue in Dhaka division in the last 24 hours. Additionally, one person each died in Chattogram, Khulna, Barishal, Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions.

The bulletin stated that 70,258 dengue patients have so far been discharged from hospitals. Among them, 2,064 were discharged in the last 24 hours.

According to the report, 136 people died in these 28 days of September. In the previous month, that is August, 43 people died of dengue. Additionally, 36 died in July and 13 in June.

Meanwhile, the DGHS had reported one death in May and two each in January and February.
