8 more die with measles symptoms, 1,232 infected in 24 hours

Eight more people have died with measles symptoms across the country in 24 hours. With this, 100 people have died from confirmed measles and 930 with measles symptoms this year. In total, the death toll from measles and its symptoms has reached 1,030.

The information was provided in the Directorate General of Health Services' regular health bulletin on Monday, September 14. It said four people died with measles symptoms in Dhaka alone in the 24 hours from 8am on Sunday. During this period, 1,232 new patients with measles symptoms were admitted to various hospitals across the country.

Division-wise, in the last 24 hours, 524 people were hospitalised in Dhaka division, 23 in Rajshahi, 150 in Sylhet, 278 in Chattogram, 131 in Barishal, 57 in Mymensingh, 88 in Khulna and 26 in Rangpur.

According to DGHS data, a total of 152,117 patients with measles symptoms have been admitted to various hospitals across the country since March 15 this year. Of them, 146,400 have been discharged after treatment.

Since March 15, the number of suspected measles patients in the country has reached 172,720. Among them, 20,124 have been confirmed with measles.
