9 arrested while attempting to seize hotel in Uttara

RAB-1 arrested nine individuals on Saturday afternoon (June 29) during an attempted forceful takeover of a hotel in Uttara Sector 6 of the capital.

The detainees included Sajjad Hossain, 28, Shafiq Molla, 30, Ariful Islam, 30, Tanmoy Hossain Shaon, 27, Rabiul Islam, 25, Anwar Hossain Ashiq, 27, Saiful Islam Sagar, 27, Jalal Khan, 30, and Amir, 21.

According to Major Ahnas of RAB-1, the incident took place at Hotel Milina when a group of around 24 people, reportedly led by Shafiq Molla, arrived on 10 motorcycles with the intention of seizing the hotel over an old business dispute with its owner, Anwar Hossain.

RAB intelligence officers who were monitoring the situation from a distance were confronted by the attackers when they attempted to take photos. RAB-1's patrol unit and police from Uttara Purba Police Station quickly responded, bringing the situation under control and detaining nine individuals involved.

A case has been filed, and the arrested suspects have been handed over to Uttara Purba Police Station for further legal action.
