9 kidnapped farmers including Rohingya released paying 'ransom'

Nine abducted farmers including Rohingyas were released after paying 'ransom' at Teknaf upazila in Cox's Bazar.

They returned to their respective areas on Monday morning, said Hoikang Union Parishad Chairman Nur Mohammad Anwari.

The farmers were abducted from the hilly areas of Karachipara around 8:30 am on Saturday (November 2). After that, a ransom of Tk 1.5 lakh per person was demanded.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Teknaf Model Police Station Md Giyas Uddin confirmed the release of nine abducted persons. But he denied the issue of ransom.
