9 more die of dengue, death toll crosses 270
Nine more people have died of dengue across the country in the last 24 hours. Among them, the highest three died in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) area. With this, a total of 271 people have died of dengue in the current year. Additionally, 1,902 people were admitted to hospital with dengue in the last 24 hours.
The information was provided in the regular dengue bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services on Monday, October 5.
According to DGHS data, among the latest dengue fatalities, five were men and four were women. Of the total deaths, about 48 percent were men and 52 percent women.
The bulletin stated that 1,902 people were admitted to various hospitals across the country with dengue in the 24 hours from 8am on Sunday. With this, the number of patients admitted to hospital in the current year has reached 88,360. In the last 24 hours, 1,988 people were discharged from hospital after recovery. So far, 82,335 have recovered and returned home.
In the last 24 hours, the highest number of patients were admitted to hospital in Dhaka division, 401 (outside city corporations). Additionally, 306 were admitted in Khulna division, 216 in Barishal, 272 in Chattogram, 98 in Mymensingh, 66 in Rangpur and 105 in Rajshahi. Beyond this, 206 patients were admitted to hospitals in the Dhaka North City Corporation area and 223 in the Dhaka South City Corporation area.
