94 children die with measles symptoms in 19 days: DGHS
The measles outbreak continues to worsen across the country, with 94 children dying with measles symptoms in the last 19 days, according to the latest update from the Directorate General of Health Services.
In the 24 hours leading up to Friday morning, April 3, another 947 children sought treatment at various hospitals with measles symptoms. Three of them died during this period. Among those currently undergoing treatment, 42 have been confirmed infected with measles.
According to the directorate, a total of 5,792 children have received treatment at various hospitals with measles symptoms since March 15. Among them, 3,776 were admitted in the last 24 hours, and 2,527 have recovered and returned home. Nine children have died from confirmed measles infection during this period. Additionally, 94 children have died with measles symptoms.
The health directorate has revised previously published data, removing five deaths from the confirmed death toll due to incorrect information sent from the district level. The affected districts are Brahmanbaria (three deaths), Lakshmipur (one) and Chandpur (one).
Meanwhile, one more measles-related death has been recorded at the capital's Shahid Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, which has been added to the latest report.
