Aam Jonotar Dol finally set to be registered

After a continuous 125-hour hunger strike, Tarek Rahman’s newly formed political party, ‘Aam Jonotar Dol’, is finally set to be officially registered by the Election Commission, with the butterfly as its election symbol.

Senior Secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat, Akhtar Ahmed, confirmed the decision during a workshop at the Election Training Institute in the capital's Agargaon on Thursday (December 4).

He said both parties were found to have active offices at district and upazila levels during a re-investigation, fulfilling the necessary conditions for registration.

To ensure transparency, a public notice will be issued on Friday, December 5, allowing objections until December 9.

On another matter, Akhtar Ahmed noted that the Advisory Council has approved amendments regarding the postal ballots for expatriate voters, clarifying which ballots will be excluded and the counting process.
