A four-year-old boy abducted from Cox's Bazar town was rescued from a remote hillside in Maheshkhali upazila on Sunday (June 7), four days after he went missing, following a targeted police operation led by Maheshkhali thana.

The child, Alvi Hossain — son of Saddam Hossain of the Jailgate area in Cox's Bazar town — was reunited with his family on Sunday afternoon by a police team under Sub-Inspector Uttam Kumar.

Acting on a general diary (GD) filed by the family after Alvi's disappearance, SI Uttam Kumar's team launched an intelligence-driven search operation. Through information gathering, source development, and systematic tracking, officers located the child in a difficult-to-access hilly area of Debangpara in Boro Maheshkhali Union — and extracted him safely without harm.

Police have identified a woman named Rupbanu, a resident of Chakaria upazila, as the suspected abductor. Legal proceedings are under way, and investigators are examining whether any other individuals or networks were involved in the kidnapping.

The child's family expressed profound gratitude to the police, crediting the swift and sincere response for bringing their son home safe.

Rescuing officer SI Uttam Kumar said, "Ensuring public safety is our duty. We are glad to have brought a smile back to the faces of this child's parents."

"Those involved in the crime will be brought to justice swiftly," he added.
