Abdus Salam Bepari appointed new MD of Dhaka WASA
Md Abdus Salam Bepari has been appointed as the new Managing Director (MD) of Dhaka WASA. He will serve in this position for three years from November 11 or from the date of joining.
A notification in this regard was issued by the Local Government Division under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives on Tuesday, November 11.
Before taking the new responsibility, Md Abdus Salam Bepari was serving as the Additional Chief Engineer of Dhaka WASA.
The notification stated that under Section 28(2) of the Water Supply and Sewerage Authority Act, 1996, the government has approved the appointment of Md Abdus Salam Bepari as the Managing Director of Dhaka WASA for a three-year term from November 11 or from the date of joining.
Through this appointment, Abdus Salam Bepari replaces the recently outgoing MD, Md Shahjahan Miah.
On October 30, Md Shahjahan Miah was removed from his position as MD of Dhaka WASA. He had also been serving as the Administrator of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) in an additional capacity.
On the same day, the Ministry of Public Administration transferred Shahjahan Miah to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief as an Additional Secretary.
It may be noted that on February 13 this year, Additional Secretary of the Local Government Division Shahjahan Miah was first appointed as Administrator of DSCC and later, on May 18, as MD of Dhaka WASA.
