Abu Saleh re-elected DRU president, Mainul Hasan returns as general secretary

Abu Saleh Akn has been re-elected president of the Dhaka Reporters Unity DRU for the 2024 election, while Mainul Hasan Sohel has also retained his position as general secretary. The results were formally announced on Sunday, November 30 by chief election commissioner M A Aziz.

Among other posts, Mehdi Azad Masum won the vice-president position. Md Zafar Iqbal was elected unopposed as joint secretary. Niaz Mahmud Sohel was elected treasurer, and M M Jasim became organisational secretary. Md Rashim Rashim Molla was elected unopposed as office secretary.

Jannatul Ferdous Panna was elected women affairs secretary, Mizan Chowdhury became publicity and publication secretary, while Rafique Mridha was elected unopposed as welfare secretary. Mahmud Sohel was elected information technology and training secretary, Omar Faruk Rubel became sports secretary and Aminul Haque Bhuiyan won the hospitality secretary post.

Elected executive members include Mohammad Naimuddin, Al-Amin Azad, Md Mahfuzur Rahman, Ali Azam and Md Akhtar Hossain.
Md Abdul Alim and Md Mazaharul Islam received an equal number of votes, and a decision regarding their position will be made by the newly elected committee.

Voting began at 9am on Sunday at the Shafiqul Kabir auditorium and continued until 5pm. The results were announced after counting concluded.
