Abu Sayed murder: 3-member probe committee formed
A three-member committee has been formed to identify those involved in the murder of Abu Sayed, a student of the 12th batch of the English department at Begum Rokeya University, who was shot by police during an anti-discrimination protest on July 16.
The committee will determine the identification of the individuals (faculty, students, and staff) involved and the nature of the punishment.
The new Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr Shawkat Ali, announced the formation of the committee on Monday, which was confirmed by Mohammad Ali, the additional director of the university’s public relations department.
The committee comprises Professor Dr Mizanur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, as the chairperson; Associate Professor Md Amir Sharif from the Accounting and Information Systems department as a member; and Proctor Dr Ferdous Rahman as the member secretary.
The committee has been instructed to submit its investigation report within the next seven working days.
