The Bogura district administration has withdrawn the Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Gabtali Upazila after HSC candidates at Syed Ahmed College examination centre received their Geography question papers 22 minutes late.

Authorities have also formed an investigation committee, while further action has been initiated against those responsible for the lapse.

On this matter, District Commissioner Md. Toufiqur Rahman said Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shahanaz Parvin has been stand released and attached to the Office of the Divisional Commissioner in Rajshahi.

He added that the district administration will recommend disciplinary action to the Ministry of Education against the centre secretary, the Gabtali Upazila Secondary Education Officer and other officials found responsible.

According to officials at the examination centre, the Geography examination began on Thursday morning (July 16) without the question papers reaching the venue. Following instructions from the Assistant Commissioner (Land), the question papers were distributed 22 minutes after the scheduled start time, leaving examinees frustrated.

Following the incident, the Gabtali Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) submitted a written report to the district administration seeking necessary action. However, Centre Secretary and Syed Ahmed College Principal Md. Saiduzzaman declined to comment.

Rajshahi Education Board Chairman Shamim Ara Chowdhury said the incident reflected clear administrative failure and negligence in conducting the examination. She confirmed that the board has received the district administration's report and will form its own investigation committee on Sunday.

"Further action against the centre secretary will be taken based on the inquiry findings," she said.
