Newly appointed Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Mohammad Abdul Momen has pledged to work honestly being free from political influence.

He said, “It would not be right to promise that we can completely eradicate corruption. We have to see that we can work to the best of our ability. We will work honestly and in accordance with the law.”

He said these things while talking to reporters after joining his new workplace on Wednesday (December 11) afternoon.

The ACC Chairman said, “I have worked with three political governments and two caretaker governments. This interim government does not have a political character like other political parties. It has no political aspirations. This government's aspiration is to move forward with the people.”

Earlier, on Tuesday (December 10), Dr Mohammad Abdul Momen, the recently resigned Senior Secretary of the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs, was appointed as the Chairman of the ACC. He was joined by retired District and Sessions Judge Mian Muhammad Ali Akbar Azizi and Brigadier General (retd) Hafiz Ahsan Farid as Commissioners.

On October 29, after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government, ACC Chairman Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah and Commissioner (Investigation) Md Zahurul Haque and Commissioner (Investigation) Md Asia Khatun resigned.
