ACC seeks travel ban on joint secretary Rathindranath
The Anti-Corruption Commission has applied to the court to impose a travel ban on Rathindranath Dutta, Regional Director of the Technical Education Department in Sylhet, and his wife Chandana Das, in connection with allegations of illicit asset acquisition. The commission has also directed the couple to submit a statement of assets.
ACC alleges that the joint secretary-level officer obtained multiple passports under different names through forgery, engaged in widespread corruption and embezzlement, acquired illegal assets, and laundered funds abroad.
ACC Public Relations Officer Akhtar Hossain said, “Rathindranath Dutta embezzled large sums of money through forgery and other corrupt practices, acquiring substantial assets both domestically and abroad under his name and those of dependents. Preliminary information also suggests suspicious travel abroad using his and dependent passports.”
To further investigate these allegations and reach a precise conclusion, ACC has requested a court order to prevent Rathindranath Dutta and his wife from leaving the country on October 9.
Additionally, ACC has asked the couple to provide a detailed statement of movable and immovable property, assets, and liabilities under Form-5, in accordance with Section 26 of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004, and Rule 17 of the ACC Regulations, 2007.
