The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against Mahi B Chowdhury, son of former President A. Q. M. Badruddoza Chowdhury and leader of the Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh, over allegations of amassing illegal assets worth over BDT 20 crore.

ACC’s Director (Prevention), Akhtar Hossain, said at a press briefing on Wednesday (October 15) that Chowdhury concealed BDT 9.68 crore worth of assets in his submitted statements and accumulated BDT 20.69 crore in unexplained wealth.

He reportedly used part of the money to acquire 68 acres of land and laundered funds through his company, Avalon Estate Ltd, the director added.

The case has been filed under Sections 26(2) and 27(1) of the ACC Act, 2004 and Section 4(2)(3) of the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2012.
