Accused DIG ‘missing’ from Police Academy

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Ehsanullah, accused in a case of crimes against humanity, has mysteriously ‘disappeared’ from the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah in Rajshahi.

Saiful Islam, Superintendent of Police (Administration) of Bangladesh Police Academy, confirmed the matter and said that DIG Ehsanullah has been absent from the academy since Wednesday.

He said that Ehsanullah had sent a leave application by post on Thursday. But that application was not accepted. An inquiry is being conducted into his disappearance.

The former police superintendent of Barisal was currently in charge of the supply department as DIG at the Bangladesh Police Academy.

According to sources in the Bangladesh Police Academy, a delegation from the International Crimes Tribunal went to arrest DIG Ehsanullah on Thursday morning in a case of crimes against humanity.

According to multiple sources at the Bangladesh Police Academy, Ehsanullah learned in advance that a police team was coming to the academy to arrest him and went 'in hiding' from there.
