Action underway against Eid train lapses: State Minister
State Minister for Road Transport and Bridges and Railways Habibur Rashid Habib said that punitive action is being taken against officials responsible for negligence or mismanagement in train services during the Eid rush.
Inspecting Chattogram Railway Station on Friday (March 20), the minister said directives have already been issued to minimize passenger inconvenience, particularly addressing delays in connecting trains. Authorities have been asked to explain reasons for train delays, and corrective measures are being implemented.
In some cases, action has already been taken; for instance, a station master and train driver were temporarily suspended following complaints, and an investigative committee has been formed.
Habib added that passenger complaints are monitored through social media and other channels, and he himself is traveling on trains to assess service quality firsthand. The railway authority continues round-the-clock monitoring to ensure smoother operations during the Eid period.
