The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has directed several associations of government primary school assistant teachers to immediately withdraw their work abstention and exam boycott programmes. The ministry said all assistant teachers must return to work at once and conduct the third-term exams as well as all scheduled activities. Failure to comply will result in action under employment law, conduct rules and criminal law.

The information was provided in a press release sent by senior information officer Abdullah Shibli Sadiq on Wednesday, December 3.

The ministry said letters have been sent to the finance ministry and the public administration ministry regarding salary upgrades to grade 11, higher grade opportunities after confirmation of service, and 100 percent departmental promotion to head teacher posts. Senior officials of the ministry have personally discussed the implementation of these demands.

The release stated that on August 7, the national pay commission 2025 was requested to upgrade assistant teachers’ scale from grade 13 to grade 11. After receiving the pay commission’s report, the finance division will proceed accordingly.

The ministry noted that despite these steps, certain groups have obstructed annual examinations, attacked willing teachers and jeopardised students’ education. Such actions violate employment law, conduct rules and criminal law.
