Popular film actress Nusrat Faria was detained by immigration police at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. When she was about to board a flight to Thailand on Sunday, May 18, immigration officers stopped her and detained her after questioning. According to sources from the airport’s immigration police, her name is linked to an attempted murder case filed at Bhatara Police Station in Dhaka during the 2024 anti-discrimination movement. The case alleges that Nusrat Faria, opposing the movement, provided financial support on behalf of the ruling Awami League.

জনপ্রিয় অভিনেত্রী নুসরাত ফারিয়াকে ঢাকার হযরত শাহজালাল আন্তর্জাতিক বিমানবন্দর থেকে আটক করেছে ইমিগ্রেশন পুলিশ। রোববার (১৮ মে) থাইল্যান্ডগামী একটি ফ্লাইটে উঠতে গেলে ইমিগ্রেশন কর্মকর্তারা তাকে থামিয়ে জিজ্ঞাসাবাদের পর আটক করেন। বিমানবন্দরের ইমিগ্রেশন পুলিশ সূত্রে জানা গেছে, ২০২৪ সালের বৈষম্যবিরোধী আন্দোলনের সময় রাজধানীর ভাটারা থানায় দায়ের হওয়া একটি হত্যা প্রচেষ্টার মামলায় তার নাম রয়েছে। ওই মামলায় অভিযোগ করা হয়েছে, আন্দোলনের বিপক্ষে অবস্থান নিয়ে নুসরাত ফারিয়া ক্ষমতাসীন আওয়ামী লীগের পক্ষে অর্থ সহায়তা দিয়েছেন।
