Adani had threatened to stop power supply from Tuesday due to non-payment of dues. However, after Bangladesh assured the pending payment, the company continued the supply.

Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) stated that on Tuesday morning, Adani Power supplied 856 megawatts of electricity. The government assured Adani of a payment of 100 million dollars this month. The payment will be made in several phases.

BPDB spokesperson Shamim Hasan told the media that Adani demanded a bill of 496 million dollars. Partial payment will be made from this amount. Correspondence on this matter is ongoing, and there is a possibility that a portion of the bill will be paid within today.

Earlier, Fawzul Kabir Khan, adviser to the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, told the media that there are some differences of opinion with Adani. A writ regarding Adani’s alleged corruption is pending in the High Court, and we have decided to make partial payment.

At the end of October, Abhinash Anurag, Head of Energy Regulatory and Commercial at Adani Power, sent a formal letter to the chairman of BPDB. In the letter, Adani Power stated that despite repeated requests and communications, BPDB did not pay the pending amount of 496 million US dollars (approximately 49.6 crore dollars).
