Additional BSF personnel deployed on Bangladesh border
The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has strengthened security measures on the India-Bangladesh border.
The country's border guard force said that additional BSF personnel have been deployed on the border in response to the ‘increase in violence and instability in Bangladesh’, reports Indian news agency ANI on Wednesday (December 4).
The report said that the situation has become tense after the attack on the office of the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, Tripura on December 2. Due to the geographical proximity and cultural ties with Tripura, which is surrounded by Bangladesh on three sides, there has been widespread tension in the state.
In such a situation, Indian authorities have intensified patrolling and surveillance along the Bangladesh border. BSF members have been ordered to be on high alert along the border to prevent any untoward incident.
