Advance bus ticket sales begin for Eid-ul-Azha

Advance ticket sales for long-distance buses ahead of Eid-ul-Azha have officially started today, as announced by the Bus-Truck Owners Association.

Tickets for journeys starting from May 29 onward will be available for purchase from 6.00am to 5.00pm each day. Passengers can buy tickets both online and directly at bus counters.

However, some transport companies will offer tickets exclusively through online platforms.

The announcement was made earlier on May 14 by Subhankar Ghosh Rakesh, the acting general secretary of the association. He emphasized that bus operators must adhere to the fare structure set by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), and no additional charges will be tolerated.

In light of previous complaints regarding excessive fares on air-conditioned (AC) buses, Rakesh stated that all operators have been instructed to keep AC fares at a reasonable and acceptable level. While the government does not regulate AC bus fares, operators are expected to set prices based on service quality and passenger affordability.

Social media users have already begun sharing photos of their tickets, expressing relief and gratitude for securing seats ahead of the holiday rush.
