Adviser Mahfuz Alam's father comes under attack

An attack was carried out on Azizur Rahman Bachchu Molla, father of Information and Broadcasting Adviser Mahfuz Alam in Ramganj upazila of Lakshmipur.

Later, injured Bachchu Molla was taken to the Upazila Health Complex. He is currently at home.

The attack took place in front of his house in Narayanpur village of Ichapur Union of the upazila on Sunday evening.

According to local sources, Bachchu Molla, the organizing secretary of Ichapur Union BNP, was attacked when he went to protest the attack on the house of his nephew, Upazila Chhatra League Vice President Mehedi Manjur.

Ramganj Police Station OC Abul Bashar said that two parties got into a fight in front of Bachchu Molla's house. When he tried to calm both parties, people from one side hit him. However, no one filed a complaint in the police station in this regard.

Meanwhile, Upazila Chhatra League Vice President Mehedi Manju said: "I went home in the afternoon to see my sick mother. On receiving the news, BNP activists attacked my house. Bachchu Kaka came under attack while trying to stop them."

Ichapur Union BNP President Md. Aliullah said: "I heard about the incident. I was not in the area then. Union BNP is calling for action against whoever was involved in this attack."

Meanwhile, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement held a protest march at the Upazila headquarters around 10:30pm in protest of the attack and demanded the arrest of the attackers.
